Good bye
The door bell rings. Ariane jumps up and opens the door. There stands, two heads smaller than herself, in the midst of the light of day, Dicky Heart.
"I just wanted to say good bye to you."
"Dicky Heart,why are you going?"
"I've finished here. Your Daddy has found Time, Magic and Tenderness. He doesn't need me any more. As for you, I want to thank you."
"Why?"
"Because you helped your Daddy search. So I don't have to squeeze him, press him, throttle him, stab him. I didn't really enjoy doing that at all. He's much too nice. It's no fun hurting him."
"And where are you off to now, Dicky Heart?"
"I know an old woodlouse.. who sits in a big house all made of mirrors. He's on the phone and drinks coffee and smokes cigarettes and talks and complains and and gets annoyed and does all that at the same time and hasn't got time."
"Mr. Wallenberg?"
Dicky Heart pulls a secretive face.
"Fare well, Ariane!"
"Wait a minute, Dicky Heart!"
"What's the matter?"
"I want to say "Thank you", too"
Dicky Heart is astonished.
"What for?"
"You've given my parents back to me. Mummy and Daddy have got time for me, now."
"It's my pleasure!"
Dicky Heart smiles and walks down the stairs to the door.
"Who's calling?" Ariane's Daddy shouts from the kitchen.
"Just someone who pressed the wrong bell."
